    What a waste using a 1.5TB drive for a boot drive #1

#2, RPM is only one factor in data transfer rate. Data density is another. This is fast drive.

retail and 5 year warranty. Picked up this drive last week for $100, this is a deal, depending what state your in. Tax is a killer.

yeah why do you need BLAZING break neck speeds for 1.5TB worth of music, pictures or movies -eh? Yes, everyone whose time is valuable or data is value is stupid if they aren't on Raid 1. (or another raid that prevents any slow down in the event of a HDD crash)

$180 for 1.5TB RAID1 is a deal, if you have the capacity (PSU, controller and chassis space wise) I say go for it. I'm personally tempted but still have 500GB free on my existing array so waiting for prices to drop just a little more.

If you've decided to go RAID1 you've already decided to go a slow route when it comes to Writes but reads should be quicker than a single drive. As far as Seagate goes, their .12 drives are proven by now so don't have any hesitations based on old rumors.

Write difference isn't enough to notice in use #7, nor is read difference. That's the thing about OS with I/O caching, only if you were timing some huge transfers would it matter and seldom are those time sensitive.

Got mine at Fry's - 2 days later my mobo wont get past the post screen unless I disconnect it. Now I have to go through that hell on earth process known as a "Fry's Return".
