Amazon has the Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 7200.12 1 TB 7200RPM SATA III 6Gb/s with NCQ 32MB Cache 3.5" Internal Bare Drive for $90 with free shipping. Features a 32MB cache and a 3 year warranty.
2 TB for $60 would be good for a quality brand. With Seagate's reputation lately along with the new 1 year warranty, I think $40 would be fair for their 2 TB drives, or about $25 for this model.
HD prices seem to have a floor regardless of capacity - I don't think I've ever seen a new drive of any size below about $35, even when 2TBs were going for $60.
^ There was a while I'd regularly buy HDDs from the office superstores for $20 to $30 after a coupon code and a rebate. Sometimes they'd even throw in a free duffel bag, set of luggage, boombox or crappy little B&W portable TV.
slooow train coming to the station. The prices are finally getting down.
I can wait...
Still way over priced. I am not demanding this for $90. I don't even want it for $40.
2 TB at $60 is the correct price.
