Yeah, and I'd sure hate to lose my entire collection of "stuff" when this thing craps out on me.

This driver is good for backup, nas server, external USB driver. Don't buy this for your primary boot driver. I would like to see lower price around $120.

    agreed #5

#2 How is data on a 1TB HD any safer than a 2TB? Do you despise 1TB drives because it's twice as much to lose as a 500GB?

#3 This is a storage drive. Even @ 5900 rpm, at this platter density it's hella fast sequential transfer rates. Only in seek times does it suffer compared to higher RPM drives.

#2 as if WD, Hitachi or Samsung are any more reliable than Seagate. Stay with your 250GB drive and be happy. The rest of us will raid their setups and backup as needed.

Damn, I was killed many times by Seagate hard drives. A lot of my backups' gone without a word!

Frys has the 5 year warranty retail version of this drive on sale every other week for the same price. I bought 8 of the retail versions without a failure thus far.

Thank you #11 - no free shipping but no NJ tax and 5-year warranty makes frys the better deal for me. Shipping for 2 drives was less than $8.

Seagate is bad. Bad drives, bad customer service.
