Newegg has the Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB SATA3 HDD for $170 - $20 off with coupon code EMCNDHJ33 [Exp 6/27] = $150 with free shipping. Features a SATA 6Gb/s interface, 64MB cache, and 7200RPM. Amazon has it for the same price.
something tells me $150 is VERY high for 3TB even though it is a 7200.
It's not THAT bad, before the fake "crisis" you could get a 5200 RPM for $130 at the lowest. Of course that had a THREE year warranty. stupid seagate.
then $150 for 3TB 7200 might be able right now.
I just bought a 3TB 7200 RPM Seagate in a USB 3.0 case for $139. You can easily remove the drive from the case and use in a PC if you wanted to.
TeeTee.. WTF? Post a link, bro.
Costco has Seagates for 3tb usb 3.0 external but you can take those out of the case as well.
They have been flying off the shelves at the local Costco here.
I picked up 3 of them months ago
Might be in store only though
decent price I guess (still milking the flood cow)....but whats with the 1 year warranty? seems seagate is not very confident of their product. an item like this (and at this price) should have a 3 year warranty at least
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you search Amazon.com for Total Bacon Satisfaction, a Seagate hard drive is the #1 hit:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?field-keywords=total+bacon+satisfaction
Yes, well.. I think a pair of eggs sunny side up gives me all the bacon satisfaction that I need.
And as soon as you take a seagate out of its external case you have no warranty, brains.
Some posters at One of those Other Deal Sites have reported drives taken from external enclosures still having valid serial numbers as internal drives. I wouldn't risk it, but a bunch of people swear by it.
Also, as prices go: The best deal on 3TB drives before the floods was $110-$120 for Hitachi 5400 RPM drives at Fry's. 7200 RPM drives at the time were scaling as just being multiples of what 1TB drives cost, and those never dropped lower than $50 (but were usually $60). So this is indeed a real good price. The warranty change sucks, so just make sure to use a credit card that doubles it.
