Trust 3 TB of porn to Seagate... I don't think so.
What's up with the mistrust in Seagate? They used to be top tier, deathstar and maxxtor could not touch them, what gives? Is no one worthy of trusted our porn with?
Ahh HDD fail, that's why you back up, RAID up, or STFU.
They are top tier, previously their only competition was WD but they pulled ahead by being less effected by the Thai floods. You read incidents of someone having them fail but statistically most HDDs are sold to OEMs who would go elsewhere if a manufacturer provided products that made their systems fail at an excessive rate.
Brand doesn't matter. Every brand has good and bad models. Specific model of the HDD matters. Class of the HDD matters - is it consumer (desktop) grade or enterprise (server) grade. Bit error rate (10e-14 or 10e-15) matters. Read reviews from testers and long time users for specific model to get an idea of its reliability.
