What's the point? The drive read/write speed cannot even come close to the theoretical maximum of the USB 2.0 throughput. Like having a moped on the autobahn. Might as well be riding it on a regular city road.

#1, actually, it's the other way 'round. It's like having a Veyron on an Indian city bazaar road.

This review disagrees about the speed:

Current price would seem to be a bit much unless you just needed the speed.

Is the drive also shock resistant/ruggedized?

#1, at least you have one word right - theoretical. The maximum speed of USB 2.0 is so stated as theoretical is because the actual rate could never reach the max limit. USB 3.0 "theoretically" exceeds the speed of 2.0 by quite a few folds (can't remember the exact number), but in reality, you would only get something like Ben said ~ 3.2GB/s.

    #2, you are mistaken.

The USB interface is the pathway through which data is trasmitted, akin to a highway.

Since it is fast, it is akin to a fast data pathway, such as the autobahn.

The hard drive is what is transmitting the data (as compared to being the pathway of transmission). The hard drive is also the limiting of the two factors. Therefore, it is akin to a slow moped, which is unable to achieve the speed the pathway is capable of.

    Nice try though.
