My experience with these big ass drives is they are more likely to let you down. The data is packed so tightly that the chances for data loss is greater. Like I said, I have lost data, all of it, on a 3tb drive. I do not move the drives, or have any vibrations when the drives are running. I am extremely careful, and I have had bad results. Good thing that I store data in more than one place.
It's not that data is packed any tighter, well not directly... it's that more platters mean more head alignment issues, more heat, motor and bearing wear. If I want longevity I pick drives with no more than 2 platters but right now with the inflated post-Thai-flooding market prices, it's more cost effective to get something with 3 platters.

Any drives will fail , sooner or later. You need to make sure you have 2 copies of all data . That should take care of it....
