Has there ever been a BOGO on hard drives? This is still a decent deal given the shortage.

I guess the flood is not going to be as big of problem getting ramped back up as first considered. I mean this isn't great but it beats >$125 for a drive like this.

These should be whatever will sell them. If you need one, good price. In not, wait it out...

All these drives need a spin cycle in the dryer.

That's essentially what WD is doing to their equipment in Thailand.

I wish this wasn't considered a good deal. Sad

I'm just gonna wait as long as I can to replace my 3x 750GB drives with 2TB's. I don't really NEED a lot of the stuff on there (I could re-rip the DVD's again if I really needed to) to justify spending more than, say, $80/drive. If prices aren't better in, say, May, then I'll just bite the bullet. Otherwise, I would have been buying in January (or sooner if the right deal popped up.)

I haven't heard anyone that thinks that this HDD price/supply crisis is permanent - even if another major natural disaster hits Asia, manufacturers will figure out a way to continue increasing their volume.

I wouldn't use this as your primary boot partition as it's only 5900 RPM, but it would be good as a secondary slave/storage device.

I was able to get a deal on the 2TB Baracuda XT drive earlier in the year which is 7900 RPM for $110. Hopefully the prices will return to that point as that drive is over $200.00 now

I need another HDD so bad but the prices are outrageous! This is a good deal as far as prices go I suppose even though I bought a 2TB drive for maybe 20 dollars more in the summer. Oh how I hope the prices drop again.

For last three months, supberbiiz offered 2TB 5900RPM Seagate for $75. Don't know why this deal is hot now...
