Buy.com has the Seagate Momentus 320GB 2.5" 7200.3 ST9320421AS Hard Drive for Notebooks priced at $90 + $0 shipping = $90 shipped. A good upgrade to tide you over to the days of SSD affordability. Here is the Seagate site for this drive.

@kwisatz - Right, but was it a 7200RPM 500GB? The difference between 5400 and 7200 RPM is noticeable.

And it isn't "...tide you over to the days of SSD affordability." It's '...tide you over UNTIL the day SSD is affordable." Come on Ben, watch the grammar. There are little children here.

The price has not been dropped since 3 month ago for 7200rpm 320gb. If the price can go down below $70, I will get one.

    CommanderLOL & Elpee,

You are rodeo cowboy! Performance = rotation speed x density.

    160GB per platter (2 platters) @ 7200RPM versus 250GB (again, 2 platters) per platter @ 5400RPM.

You need a platter density of 188GB per platter @ 7200RPM to match the 500GB 5400RPM and the ST9320421AS has what for a platter density? Far less so no, it does not outperform the 5400RPM 500GB drive - the opposite is true.
