Really? I've read the reviews and have been using one in my laptop for several months. My hearing is bad but my wife has incredible hearing and I had her give it a listen while surfing, typing, and streaming Netflix. She said that although she could hear the drive the fan on either the laptop or cooler under it was much louder. Boot up and app launch is much, much faster with this drive and I would not hesitate to get another.
These drives s--u--c--k and are ALWAYS on sale because people aren't buying the hype. They are not any faster than a regular hard drive, WEI will rate no higher than a 5.9 regardless. Not to mention it's a Seagate who has become the Hitachi Deathstar of the HD world.
dave's comment is good - I have one in am older lenovo ultralight - noisefree, bootup is noticeably faster, no issues, just make sure you have current firmware - i got this 8 mos ago at TD and that one was already up to date. I'd buy it again...
Current Newegg reviews list this drive as noisy and just a tad bit faster than a regular drive.

4 out of 5 eggs from over 700 customer reviews. They are faster than laptop drives, but for a desktop I'd go 3.5" 7200 RPM or SSD.
It's interesting that some people keep bashing Seagate and yet the reviews for Seagates continue to be as good as other brands.
