Heard that. Had a LOT of problems with various drives from them over the last two years. Will not be buying from them again for a very long time, if ever.

Seagate has become the new Maxtor. Not sure how they're going to redeem their image with me.

I bought this recently. Works OK. Definitely faster than my old disk. Faster bootup and shutoff, but not more than 20% faster. Other well used apps also faster. I had some trepidation hearing that disk makes noise, grinds, needs firmware updates, etc. Not true with mine. A lot of complaints seem to be with people who have Macs, I have a toshiba core i7 and it seems to work well.
Am glad I bought it but the speed increases to me seem somewhat marginal, nice but not an order of magnitude.

This is a good drive! It's no ssd! During regular use it's about the same or barely faster than a 7200. But when you are doing a repetitive task is where this drive shines. If I reboot my computer 3X in row the boot times will go from 3:02 down to 0:98. I have had my drive for over a year and half using it every day for about 6 hours with no problems.

Still, it's only $4 cheaper than it's been forever.

Anyone notice how Newegg is moving away from free shipping to charging $1 on a lot of stuff now?
