    seagate and western digital are reducing warranties starting 12/31/11 and this drive is on the list.

    Constellation 2 and ES.2 drives: 5 years reduced to 3 years
    Barracuda and Barracuda Green drives: 5 years reduced to 1 year
    Barracuda XT: 5 years reduced to 3 years
    Momentus 2.5-inch (5400 and 7200rpm): 5 years reduced to 1 year
    Momentus XT: 5 years reduced to 3 years

    Grabbed one of these a few months ago for $70. When I saw this one for $100 I grabbed one...hard to find a 2TB at this price during these post flood days.

    Seagate could have improved the quality and kept the warranty at 5 years. Looks like they can't keep replacing all these bad drives long term and make a profit. Give the gift of data loss for Christmas, give a Seagate.

    5900 RPM? Good as a second drive. I wouldn't load my OS on this.

    C_Los, how could you not load your OS with this? Do you have any idea media density play into overall speed. This drive clocks in at almost 140MB/s read write and has some of the lowest latency in its class, which is plenty fast for OS loading. http://www.storagereview.com/seagate_barracuda_green_2tb_review_st2000dl003
