    It's a Seagate. Do you really want to trust putting your data on it? It does have the new reduced 1 year warranty, down from 3 years.

    you cant really expect any brand to hold more than 3 years now days, especially the warehouse workers play catch with harddrives instead of football during break.

    Seagates typically rate 4/5 on Newegg customer reviews, as good as any other brand and model with more than a handful of reviews posted.

    I'd love for them to offer a long warranty with no added cost to me, but there is an added cost... you can get a 7K2 RPM 2TB Hitachi for $167, OR a Samsung or WD lower RPM *green* alternative for near the same $120.

    Dave I wouldn't put too much stock in those reviews. When you buy something from Newegg you get the email to review it. So I buy it, it works and I give it 5 stars. When would I ever go back to Newegg and find that model and give it a low rating if it crashed after, say, 2 years?
