Newegg has the Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 2TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive for $130 - 15% off with coupon code APRHD15 [Exp 4/8] + $7 shipping = $118 shipped. Features a 64MB cache, 7200RPM, 6.0Gb/s SATA interface, and AcuTrac servo technology.
you cant really expect any brand to hold more than 3 years now days, especially the warehouse workers play catch with harddrives instead of football during break.
Seagates typically rate 4/5 on Newegg customer reviews, as good as any other brand and model with more than a handful of reviews posted.
I'd love for them to offer a long warranty with no added cost to me, but there is an added cost... you can get a 7K2 RPM 2TB Hitachi for $167, OR a Samsung or WD lower RPM *green* alternative for near the same $120.
Dave I wouldn't put too much stock in those reviews. When you buy something from Newegg you get the email to review it. So I buy it, it works and I give it 5 stars. When would I ever go back to Newegg and find that model and give it a low rating if it crashed after, say, 2 years?
+ $7 shipping = $118 with free shipping
It's a Seagate. Do you really want to trust putting your data on it? It does have the new reduced 1 year warranty, down from 3 years.
