Pass, as this has 7200 RPMs, and it cannot beat the RPMs you get in a solid state HD.

Dude, SSDs don't spin (no RPMs). And where are you shopping for your 1TB SSDs?

#1, SSD performance varies. Also, SSD write performance is not always as good as disk, depending. And that's before you factor in the limited number of writes in any EEPROM. Rotation only goes so far, and EEPROM is not DRAM. I've done enough embedded and thin designs with various NAND and NOR EEPROM options to know that they are not like DRAM.

    But most people assume otherwise.

#2 WTF Miles Per Gallon ? burp Noob!

#4, if you are using your SSD for writing you are a complete douchebag, SSD should only be used for reading data only.

#5 would it not be $0.26 per GB?

Or am I crazy in thinking it is $260/1000GB?

#6, in order to READ the data from the drive, you must first WRITE the data to the drive. That way, there's something to READ! Silly douche.

All of you GO OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW. Step away from the screen slowly, you will not be harmed. There's food outside, and girls. Yep, remember those? Now go.

What is the advantage of using 1TB over 2x500GB? 1TB is rather new technology. If it were to fail, a lot of data would be lost. I wonder if diversifying the data to two 500GB would be better. Of course, I understand that the advantage of a BMW over a Honda is not just in driving...

#17 - SPACE is why... also power consumption. 2 drives creates more heat and also uses more power.... not everyone uses pc tower boxes that are liquid cooled....

#17 - why have 2 500gb drives when you can have it all in 1 TB drive? it's the same thing as saying, "why don't you get 4x250 gb? It's cheaper!" or "why don't you get, 10x100gb? it's cheaper!"

and your comparison with the bmw vs. honda ... not fitting for your argument- for this argument, it would be more like, "why get one V8 car when you can get two 4-cyl cars?"

we're getting into the TB market now-

Remember just a few years ago it was the GB market- you'd buy a hard drive that was 1gb, or 3gb- we'll see that with TB drives i presume (given they can figure out how to store that much data onto a disk drive ... haven't heard on any news of drives greater than 1 TB anybody? holographic drives coming soon?)
