Great sounding headphones, but the absolute worst cord ever. Thinner than angel hair pasta and I am not kidding. MIne lasted a week. If you're willing to pick up another cable and do a little soldering, it's a good deal.

Soldering those thin headphone wires could be a real pain. They're not your normal plastic-insulated copper wires. They are very thin, and are anodized or coated with an enamel exterior, and are difficult to solder. Could be done, tho'...I did it, but wouldn't want to do it again!

On some coated wire you can just stick the end in a molten blob of solder and it melts away. On others you can burn the coating away with the iron tip or a lighter flame, or in worst cases use some steel wool, sandpaper or a knife blade to scrape it off.

However if you're replacing the cable rather than cutting out a bad spot, you can pick something more durable and easier to solder.

However, I'm not even sure the wires are soldered on. I don't own this set but on other Senns with large(r) cups like these and single side entry, they have a 2 x 2, 0.1" pitch pin connector inside so you can replace the whole thing with no soldering... though I don't know what Senn charges for the replacement cable, probably more cost effective to buy the replacement on pricier cans.

I have these and like them but yeah the cord is so flimsy i dont expect them to last long.
They do sound great for headphones in this price range.
