Yes you can, although sometimes it is not for the better. If your MP3s are overly compressed then cheaper headphones can mask a lot of the treble distortion while better ones will let more of the distortion artifacts be heard, BUT on the other hand if your MP3s are high quality, reasonable bitrate encodings and your source is able to drive the cans reasonably, it is easy to hear the difference.
That doesn't change the fact that these are great for the $30 or under price segment. A bit lacking in bass but lacking is not necessarily any worse than the boomy distorted bass you'll find typical on other sub-$30 cans.
#5 has a stick up his doughnut. These are awesome headphones a little low on the volume site for some devices but on an ipod or computer the sound great!

Yes, yes I do have a stick up my doughnut... but that doesn't make anything I wrote untrue nor the fact that people like to know what they are giving up when paying less. $200 cans certainly aren't over 10X better, but it is easy to hear the difference on decent gear and to some it is worth a cost difference, even at only $85 on sale the HD555 are clearly a couple notches superior.
Some people nitpick about their 1080p tv... me, I get into music a lot more than TV.
These are pretty good for the price. I've gotten a few pairs.
Got 1 for myself- Like #1 said -no complain at this price
Ive got three lying around the home. Excellent for the price.
If all you listen to are MP3's, you cannot tell the difference between these and a $200 pair of AT's.
