Ends today. Newegg has the Sennheiser HD 201 DJ Stereo Headphones for $15 with free shipping. Features ambient noise attenuation and lightweight construction designed specifically for long studio or DJ sessions.
Got them for free with another purchase a while ago. The ear liner fabric is pretty thin and flimsy, but other than that they are worth $15. Also that dual wire is pretty annoying.
Let me start by saying I picked up the Philips Stretch headphones for $30 from Newegg (still at that price today, I think) and fell out of my chair when I heard them. OK, that's not totally honest -- I'd already tried them at BestBuy, but wow they are good.
My point is that -- owning both the 201s and the 202s -- today I decided to carefully compare all three pairs. In general, the Philips were the take-away winners (with a few close calls). But what surprised me was that pitting the 201s versus the 202s -- who do you think was the consistent winner on sound quality? I'd have thought it would be a close race but it wasn't. The $20 202's easily beat out the $15 201s. I still love both of them, but now the 201s not as much.
These are decent for the price. Not too heavy but sound quality is not stellar, but as good or better than you would expect at this price.
