As I have said, this will make your bed a dead zone, it's like trying to have sex in 4 inches of marshmallows or oatmeal.

Stick to 2 inches. Trust me.

I don't mean to sound elitist, but just go with a full on foam mattress. They're expensive, but well worth it. I got one 2 months ago and love it. 20 year warranty and only .75 inch dent needed to file a warranty claim.

#1: I thought you had all your sex in the bathroom down at the bus station? What does your bed material matter?

i got the 2inch version of this topper. It's a little too soft for me (I sink into the topper and it arches my back. I wake up with backstrain). It might be because of my old bed though. I think these toppers need to go on a hard surface. Even though my bed is a firm sealy, I dont think its enough.

it's only 3 pound density. expect to have back aches. even a higher density and thicker pad will still give you back aches if its density does not exceed 5lb. I would not recommend anything over 2" in thickness and less than 5lb. in density. that's what she said.

I just bought this a few weeks ago for $165, and it's good so far. Me and my wife use it, and both of us like it way more than without it. Neither of us have experienced back problems from it, in fact my shoulders were almost always effed up after a nights sleep before we got it... so if anything it's helping my back.

And having sex on it is fine, no difference really.

make sure you air it out for at least a couple days otherwise you'll have 'nam flashbacks from the fumes. it does make the degree of difficulty on more athletic moves slightly higher.

If you're looking for a good memory foam mattress instead of just a topper, check out the 10" at Overstock:

      http://www.overstock.com/1150841/product.html

I got a bacon-sized for $320 with a 20% off coupon a while back. It's 3" of 5+ pound memory foam on top of 7" of urethane foam, which is the same as the basic Tempurpedic mattress for about 1/3 the price. It's wonderful, and you don't sink down in it very far because of the quality 5-pound memory foam that's supportive. It gives you that feeling almost like you're floating, because there are no pressure points like in a normal bed.

I tried a 4" 4-pound memory foam Sealy topper from Overstock and it was really uncomfortable (parts of my body sank down to the regular mattress while other parts didn't). Everybody's different though...I have back problems and can't use what a lot of people can. I gifted the 4" topper to a family member and they think it's perfect. YMMV.
