      I'd recommend a samsung or panasonic. Check newegg or amazon for the best rated models, #2.

      Not bad #2, Aquos is SHARP's higher end line, but seriously with Black Friday on the horizon I suspect you could do better. I have no personal experience of Pannys, but I would agree with #3 that Samsung is a better bet. Having said that I've had 2 SHARP Aquos 32" LCD HDTVs and and happy with both, but neither comes close to my main 52" Samsung, but you wouldn't expect them to.

      #1, the 42 at walmart was a 60hz. this is a better than average deal on a 40" 120hz. newegg just had a 42 120hz for $700 though to give you a data point.

      I just got a Panasonic 42 plasma 1080p from BestBuy for "589.99 plus tax... Did a price match and I won. Last week it was on sale for $699. and I think I finnesed them for $120.
