I'm about to pull the trigger on this. The only thing holding me back is the possible Guitar Hero/Rock Band delay.
I've done a TON of research and know it's impossible to prevent delays on HDTVs. But, I wanted to know if anyone has experience w/an Xbox 360 and this model.
From what i've read the delay is 30ms, which is acceptable and generally above par for LCDs.
Those games have calibration tools, with Rock Band 2's guitar having a sensor that self-calibrates it.
I have never noticed an issue on either game vs. a CRT or LCD panel, I have always plugged and played successfully.
Is this a good deal? Any comments? I'm looking for a decent TV after my Syntax Olevia (piece of garbage) died on me.
It's a nice set and a pretty good price. It's the same tech as Sharp's hot selling 65-incher. This model is also $1300 at Amazon via Tiger Direct but no free shipping. It's not the newest tech but still very good. The 85U 120MHz model is $1608 at Amazon, so in comparison it's a pretty decent price.
i paid $1699 while ago from Best Buy for this Tv. I like it. Nothing too crazy about it, just a solid performer with 3HDMI input and 1080P.
#5, tanchong, have you experienced any game lag with this model?
I was burned by buying a samsung DLP a few years back and I can't play guitar hero on it.
I'm minutes from buying this, but just wanted to know how GH or RB worked out.
Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback fellas, am putting in my purchase now.
what kinda delay? i've played guitar hero/rb on hdtvs before, and noticed its kinda off. can you explain in a lil more detail what the delay is? is the audio/video both delayed at the same interval, or is the video delayed from the audio?
would you guys recommend this over a panasonic 1080p plasma, specially the 80u model?
do want! but i think prices can still do better ... *waiting as patiently as possible*
#9 - i hear panny plasmas are great, but generally for a higher price- i think. but as far as i know, the plasma vs. lcd war has died down as both technologies have advanced in such a way where it does not matter so much anymore
#9 Given that choice, I'd take the Panny.
the Aquos line in general is very very good. i have been playing gh and rock band with no problems at ALL. if you're thinking about the plasma, i'd say only if you watch a lot of sports should you ever choose a plasma over a lcd
Currently, SEARS has the TH-50PZ80U (1080p plasma) on sale for $1399.99 minus 10% with a Sears card (either the regular Sears store credit card or the Sears Master Card). They also have free delivery and disposal of one old TV for free in most "larger markets" or "larger Sears stores". If you want the 1080p Panny, this is hard to beat. I have had the 42 720p version for two+ years and it is perfect!
Just bought this!
An after thought on the Sears Panasonic.....that would add sales tax....but also local return possibilities?
Not the greatest LCD but for that price its well worth it.
CA tax $94.....
Come on, this is not the best deal! I got my Sharp Aquos LC52D65U (newer model of the 64U) which has 5 HDMI inputs for $1380 during Christmas at Amazon with a free Sharp BD21 Bluray player for free + no tax, free shipping. The player itself is $225.
I want the LC52D85U for this price.
