I think these have been having banding issues. Sony is probably a better alternative in a 52" LCD.

On bigger flat panels I lean towards plasmas. Panasonic has been getting great reviews. I do have a 40" Sony Bravia LCD and it has been good for me with no problems.

Sony or Samsung but I can go either way. Sharp if I just want to have HDTV for the sake of having HDTV.

This is 64U series so no banding issues. These Sharp series looks nice and quality is really amazing.

The only thing here is their Blu-Ray player must be version 1 which there is no way you can upgrade it to next version.

Thats why I think they give them (like free!) with their TV.

You can find this TV around $2100 in other places. So actually you are paying for overprice Blu-Ray player.

Later reviews say the banding issue is fixed. These have deeper blacks than the Sonys and they look better than other panels when they're off. This price is a bit high though. Local stores have the combo for $2400.

why they kept pushing out the combo deal? standalone BluRay player isn't worth the money.

What banding issue? I own one and have never noticed any banding. The deep black makes the picture more vivid. Love the TV so far.

      I have the 46" 64u series Aquos - banding's a very slight problem on a one color background with no motion/shadows, but generally speaking it's a non-issue for TV/movies.

120 hz would be nice for when I eventually get a high def player, but I'm not gonna complain considering I got it for $1300.

I like these tv's. for what it's worth, I install and callibrate sony, samsung, pioneer, panasonic, fujitsu (rip), sharps, and many others, and these 64's are good tv's. there's better out there, but at the price, this are pretty rad.

I'm a plasma fanboy too though.

Sure it's called Google or be really adventurous and try Alltheweb or Dogpile.

LOL! Thanks Superman that's very helpful. While we are dishing out helpful comments I should mention that my '74 Pinto doesn't make any noise when it's parked.
