Amazon with JR.com has the has the SiliconDust HDHomeRun PRIME CableCARD Premium Digital Cable Television with 3 Digital Tuners, Black (HDHR3-CC) for $135 with free shipping. Compatible with Windows Media Center on Windows 7 and other DVR applications.
My understanding is that this devices is NOT compatible with other DVR applications.
To use the M-Card to decode encrypted digital cable channels, it will only work with a secure path to Windows Media Center on Windows 7. This allows them to put do-not-copy flags on the files, or prevent them from being shared or moved to a new computer if your computer fails. That's why I've passed on buying these so far.
I think this WILL work with other DVR applications for unencrypted ClearQAM or over-the-air ATSC channels, but if that's what you want, just buy a regular HDHomeRun, the PRIME is overkill for that.
The cablecos are ridiculous when it comes to DRM. I have a Hava Vulkano that records from component ports but I need to pay for a dedicated cable box and it can only use one tuner. It also uses the error prime IR method to control the box.
