Well, you could if it worked. After a few firmware and SlingPlayer "improvements" many people are having intermittent problems connecting. Ckeck the forums.
I've had a slingbox since it was first released. On of the best investments there is. When the kid was in college. out of state, he could watch home cable for free.
You are right up to a point. Just don't update either the firmware or the slingplayer. That's when the troubles start.
