I have tested it on numerous roving hoards of Zombies, all of which were eliminated, but consider this a close in tool. After the first run-in with Zombies, I went ahead and ordered a two handed Katana from Amazon, got it in a few days free shipping with Prime.
After that, I carry both daily, as sometimes Zombies sneak up on me and it is quicker to draw the Fasthawk than the sword from my back.
All in all, it is a good tool, but should be augmented with tool that doubles the arm length, as well as with another tool which will allow for even more distance.
This is where the Darrell Crossbow works well.
