70% off of what? Here's an example of their sale:

Gerber® Bear Grylls Scout Knife for $25 that you could have bought for $9 at Meritline yesterday. Not much of a sale if you ask me...

Does Ben and his staff of elves do any amount of vetting of these deals before posting with for our consumption or is it a sling the deals on the wall and see which ones stick strategy?

Here's the knife still on sale:

^ That some other knife is cheaper somewhere else, doesn't necessarily make this knife less of a deal if it's the model you want. Couldn't find it on Meritline but it's going for $36 on Amazon.

Support Cabela's, it's not everywhere you can get a stroller to take your fawn on a walk.

      That gross...

The point and criticism I was making was with the "up to 70% off".

      Question: 70% off of what?
      Answer: Inflated retail prices.

I'm tired of BS marketing hype of the "Up to X% off" time wasting sales. I'll point out the BS sales out when I see them...

^ In case you haven't noticed, the world has been "on sale" since the birth of commerce.

Cabela's only claims it's regularly $39.99, on Amazon they claim retail list price $60.00, then their price $42.95, then sale price $34.95 + $6.95 S/H

      http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Specialty-Knives-Tools-FP3-N/dp/B00007E1LZ

or an even higher list price of $62.25 on the listing with a lower total price of $36 delivered. How can there be two different retail list prices?

Exactly #7. Retailers jack around the with retail price. I guess it would be fairer to use the manufacturer's recommended retail price... but you don't always see that posted all the time.

#6, what was the birth date of commerce you speak about and how much is your retail and sale price?

Do you mean you've been exposed to sale half truths so long that you consider it acceptable deception? Here's what the difference is now: You can call out sales BS pretty easily by use of the Internet and the people that use half truth sales tactics don't really like that because it can lessen the effectiveness of their half truths. And ain't that part of the reason forums likes this are useful for? I mean we are suppose to be discussing bargains and deals here...
