hows the quality? everyone seems to think you cant buy an hdtv unless its samsung or sony
samsung > sony, though i think i read somewhere sony is going to start buying panels from samsung.
You're going to pay more for a Sammy or a Sony, it comes down to if you think the PQ difference is worth difference in price. i just recently bought a 55" LED Samsung and a 42" LCD Vizio. There's a very significant difference in PQ and black levels, but the sammy works out to be roughly 5x more expensive as the vizio.
I think Samsung is better than Sony. I have one of each brand.

I have a 46" sony bravia and it is amazing. I paid more than I'd like to admit for it, but the picture and sound quality blows many others out of the water.
I agree with #3. I'd rather have two Vizios for the price of one Sony.
