#5 agreed. even direct TV offers on demand video now, free too with a broadband connection or PPV... HD content too... Also Verizon FIOS cable offers the same great deal. free HD content. Why buy some lame disc format player. I guess you can set it next to your 8 track.
I guess those monthly fees aren't much of a deterrent.
