We have this tv and like it a lot. We get a lot of compliments on the HD channels as far as picture quality. Standard channels are good too.
Refurbed Sony = kaka. Bought a refurbed dvd plyer from them and it showed up broken. Wouldn't trust them with an LCD.
wow, sweet deal, don't listen to #2's crap. Even if you add a 3 years extended warranty for peace of mind, it's only $150 more. An awesome 120Hz Sony tv at this price.

not worth spending a grand for a refurbished and it's not LED
You won't be getting any LEDs for a grand even if it's refurb.....
