This Minolta is not bad, but it's not the best deal. Better wait for onecall to save on tax.
This Hasselblad is not bad, but it's not the best deal. Better wait for onecall to save on tax.
This Kodak is not bad, but it's not the best deal. Better wait for onecall to save on tax.
#2 and #3, Sony dSLRs use the Minolta lens mount and has other, legacy Minolta design considerations, hence #1's comments. So I have no idea what you guys meant by "Hasselbad" and "Kodak," respectively, unless you were ignorant of that fact, and thought you were both making a joke.
#4, they just ignorant. But I wouldn't buy $ony products anyway so it's a no deal.
I heard the software for this camera installs rootkits on your computer to keep you from making copies of the pictures you take.
You forgot to mention m0f0 or pink ipods in your post.
I love how number 2 and 3 fell for that, thinking that they were smart to have some sort of comebacks, but only made them look rather lame.
There was an 18mm-200 mm lens with the A100 and that is the GOOD lens that gives you moderate wide angle to real telephoto and you never have to switch lenses. The A200 is an update of the A100 and that is a great camera that has taken thousands of perfectly sharp, perfectly exposed pictures.
Whatever you do if you get the Sony, buy the 18 to 200 lens, you will love it.
Sony, home of DRM and rootkits. Not at my house, Jack.
Sounds like an awesome lens...wondering if it's SONY lens or made by another company. I heard there are German lens that you can use that are excellent in quality. A100, I believed, was ranked as Camera of the Year in 2006. Sounds like a good deal.
If you don't want to change lenses, they really question why you go dSLR in the first place. Consider staying with a solid Point'n Shoot, especially since they have 28mm equivalents at the wide angle now (18mm in a 1.5-1.6x crop dSLR ~ 28mm). Even Canon and Nikon are adding that feature on their PnS products, and no longer just Panasonic.
#12, that would be both Tokina & Sigma, but you are right, of all the super range teles, the only one that stands out is the Nikon VR 18-200. it has a good IQ compared to the others off and brandnamed.
If you value your IQ (image quality) then never go for a one size fit all lens, consider buying two separate one, or better yet, learn to zoom with your feet and go primes. Most primes are very fast focus & have superb IQ & cheap too, except for the high-end ones.
This camera is subpar for the price. I agree, wait for a better deal. These have been on special enough that I tested one and wouldn't pull the trigger at this price point.
True, #2 & #3 tooled themselves, but at least they were still funnier than the rootkit guy.
Has anyone here who's also used the Minolta used this camera?
The Minolta had a really nice user interface. Minolta engineers were definitely reading the Minolta forums; anything that was an issue got fixed. Sad that Konika saw fit to screw 'em.
Anyway, I'd be curious to see if this is still a Minolta or now really is a Sony (not-so-great interface, pumped-up reds). The Minoltas had Sony CCDs in 'em, so the reds were a software issue...

I was hoping to find out more on the specific vendor that Sony partners with. It may very well be Sigma, although it could be Tamron.

Could have been a "bad sample" on some fronts, but they still had CA and other issues that are not sample-specific. Build quality was subpar for Nikon as well, although still better than a lot of 3rd party lenses.

BTW, it seems both the Pentax and Sony 18-250 lenses are Tamron (with Pentax replacing the mechanics and adding their coating, per usual). Reviews are no glowing either (other than Pentax's build quality).
