Memory sticks?? Pfft. I'm getting a Canon HF-100 that records on SD - much cheaper for the cam & the memory.

sony is digging their own grave with their proprietary crap. Canon is the way to go.

Just how many of these stick are you going to need? To me, the memory format is not an issue as long as it works, which is does. By the way my Sony notebook has slots for both MS and SD.

The memory format is an issue. 8GB MS is about $37 at Newegg, while 8GB SDHC starts at $13 at Newegg, and there are many 8GB SDHC to choose from. Yes, either can be found cheaper, but I'm using Newegg for easy comparison. So buy from Newegg or some lesser known retailer, either way, you are going to get 2-3 SDHC for the price of the one MS, and you'd better buy two of the MS, because:

I have many devices that use SD/SDHC cards, so I have a collection of them. If I unexpectedly fill up my camcorder's SDHC card, I can grab another one I already have without having to buy a proprietary format spare from Sony that is only useful in one device.

And when I upgrade my camcorder to 16GB (and later 32GB), the old SDHC cards can waterfall to my other devices, while a MS would become nearly useless.
