anyone ever used these? I've used my sister-in-laws Bose ones and they are awesome, however the Bose are $300...these are only $31 so I'm guessing they aren't too great

cnet says they aren't that good, no surprise

I have a couple of sets that me and the wife used on a transatlantic flight recently. They worked pretty well, though I haven't tried the Bose to compare them with.

They drowned out a lot of the jet noise, and helped a lot with the surrounding chatter, and the sound quality of the headphones was also pretty good for the price.

List price is about $70, Amazon usually has them for $36. I have 2 sets, and they work fine in a noisy envoirnment such as at work where there is a CONSTANT noise of the air handling equipment (A/C heating ventilation). They don't filter out intermittent sounds, such as talking, pounding, ect and they aren't designed to work at home in a quiet environment (no constant noise). They work on the same principle as the Bose (built-in mic to invert (then subtract) the AVERAGE ambient noise). They don't work as well as the $300 Bose, but then wait.... they're not $300.

I have a pair and like #4 said, they work well in constant noise environments. That said, I only use them on the airplane where they do a fairly good job and use other headphones in quieter areas.

Why would they fall apart so fast?

The issue of how well they work is a personal one. I own the Bose version 2, I would not use any thing else. Take note that Bose will let you charge it over 6 or 12 months with no interest. But the best thing you can do is go try each Sony & Bose. Buy the Sony's from WalMart or other store with a good return policy.

I've been thinking about getting the Bose headphones for a while now, but can't justify the steep price. I had a set of Senheizer's that were great (lost 'em on a flight though) for half what Bose cost. The Sony's didn't compare when I tried them out last year, but for $31, you can't really go wrong.
