"phazeless"...you should change your name to "cluelezz"...this Sony player is one of the very best available with fantastic ear buds and great sound quality. Open source too- so no need to mess with Sonys messy proprietary sonicstage software. Awesome player and recognised by most MP3 player websites as one of the very best sounding players you can get, period. No offence "phazeless" but most people here are looking for helpful, accurate and truthful feedback on products they are considering purchasing at a good price...so please do us all a favor and keep your misleading thoughts to yourself.

I actually bought one of these when they were $130. This is easily the best mp3 player I have bought as the sound quality of these is just amazing

Consumer Reports ranks this player and the Ipod Nano 3rd Gen. as having the same headphone quality and audio quality. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/electronics-computers/audio-video/audio/ipods-mp3-players/reports/ratings/ratings/index.htm

      #3:
In all fairness to #2, he is referring to Sony's practice of installing rootkits from their music CDs onto people's computers without their permission.

Here is a link to Wikipedia concerning the issue:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_BMG_CD_copy_protection_scandal

While he isn't commenting about the music player, he is criticizing the manufacturer. Well-informed people could well choose to buy elsewhere rather than purchase something from a corporation who has clearly demonstrated ethical issues (unlike all other corporations who are models of purity).
