#1-I think you're joking about Sony CD's that had rootkits, but some LG DVD burners have firmware built into the drive called "Bluebirds", advertisement linked to the LG website to get you to buy more LG products!

#2, I found one model GH22NS50/GH22LS50 on LG's site with a link for a firmware download to remove the "Bluebird" function. Sony's "rootkit" was software embedded in some Sony-BMG music CD's in 2005 under the guise of "copy protection". Gotta watch these b@stards!
