anyone know if they still sell the enclosures that allowed you to put 2 of these in a 5.25" bay on your desktop?
This won't fit every laptop that has a failing optical drive.

#2, you're too kind. They hardly ever fit. Main problem is the tray front - there are many different mounting methods, so you can't just swap the fronts.
The (not always) small bent metal mounts can be moved, so if the drive will plug in and make contact and doesn't scrape or drag on the notebook itself, you can use it if you don't have any aesthetic problems with it.
