Oooh, I'm tempted! This looks good Ben.
Get a Xbox 360!
dang! that's cheap
Not better than 360
ugh i just bought this yesterday from newegg for $289, no coupon and no free shipping...annoying
Is a PS3 still the best deal for getting a good Blu-Ray player?
The best blu-ray player you can buy. I've had one for 2 years and have yet to play a game on it, but movies at 1080p on my 120" screen look great. Get the Sony remote for $20, the game pad sucks, if you want to play movies. Too bad the remote is not backlit.
Sorry, but it's probably no longer the best blu-ray player you can buy. This one is:
http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83/
I bought mine for 400, and like it a lot. Don't play too many games but movies its great, and games Do look good on it.
Just do the $100 PS3 sony card deal
It's still a reference BR player that also has extensive media streaming and hosting capabilities, free online store and network, and of course the ability to also play the best and latest games. It's easily worth twice the cost. This is a good deal if you're ok with refurb products.
I just bought an Xbox360 but I've always wanted a PS3. The price was just too high....seems to be going down now though.
Overall very happy with PS3 between using it as a media player (connected to computer), blu-ray player, and games.
I own both the ps3 and 360, generally if there is a game for both systems I get the ps3 version but the one big pain in the ass thing about the ps3 is the installs required for most games (anywhere from a couple hundred megs to 4-5 gigs).
My last couple games purchased ended up with 360 versions because I just dont have the room on the hard drive for more game installs.
The playstation network has gotten better over the past few years. Just the installs really kill the experience some times.
Got mine from Sony for $132 two months ago using the credit card deal. Easiest thing I ever did in my life.
Waiting on a better line up to come out for this system.. taking to long
Anyone interested in this deal should do what #10 suggest. Basically you get a new PS3 80 gig with an extra dual shock controller for 100 bucks.
I know there are haters here. But if you have used both 360 and PS3. You will choose PS3 if you like movies and big title games. If you want tons of games, 360 has more, but most are older and also available to play on your computer so the 360 is not really needed. The 360 seems to be getting more reliability and has great online if you want to pay for it.
BUT, the PS3 is catching up fast on the items that made the 360 good, and surpasses it in so many other ways. At this price, if you are deciding 360 or PS3....HANDS DOWN GO WITH PS3.
As for the installing issue one poster mentioned. Just get a new laptop drive for the space(they're dirt cheap now). And for the time needed to install. Get a drink, take a leak, tell mom you love her, and you will be good to go.
As for the, "is this the best blu-ray player". YES, the oppo does excellent playback, but that's all it will ever do. The PS3 does excellent playback, plus it can game, stream media, browse the net, and much more. Oh and it will take Linux and be a PC too.
You can still get the 360 basic setup from geeks too. In case you still want an old console.
are they still doing the credit card deal? where are the links to the info on it? Been a while since I've seen it.
Sweet deal - repped ! The PS3 is the BEST media player , beats the apple tv easily! plus it plays games if you want. the ps3 can also playback avchd camcorder files natively .
this is a good deal for those who want a gaming system and blu-ray player
