Amazon has the Sony PS3 Slim 160GB for $300 with free shipping. Sony is pushing out yet another hard drive increase and phasing out the 120GB models. Now if only they'd bring back backwards compatibility.
Who cares if these play the PS2 games or PS3 games? Its a Blu-Ray player with a hard drive. If you want to play games get a 360. Cut the freakin price on the jewels so they compete in their market of BR DVD players!
Why waste money on the 360 when this plays games, has the hardware for 3D gaming and is already a 3D capable Blu-Ray player? Not to mention you get free online as well.
# 2, because with the xbox you don't have to worry that they're going to remove a feature set every time you upgrade the firmware, they don't blatantly lie to their customers' faces, and the online play and media center UI is a ton better than that of the PS3.
I have an "old skool", *FATTY*, first gen, backwards compatible PS3 that I got from SonyStyle.com for $400 minus a $100 discount for taking a Sony Style VISA card = $300 over a year and half ago. I barely ever play games, but I'm happy with the $300 spent for the BLU-RAY player with built in WiFi & DLNA network media player. The PS3's Bluetooth media remote control was also what sold me on purchasing a new TV with Bluetooth remote. IR remote is so two decades ago.
#3, Free online means you don't have to pay $50/yr to play online games as you do with Xbox 360. #4, That's true, Sony did remove the option to install another OS which they are currently being sued for. I would like to have the option back, but honestly I can't envision myself installing an OS on my PS3. Online play on Xbox being better... I agree with that, but not $50/yr worth in my opinion. Media Center UI, I totally disagree with you. #5, I got the same deal on the backwards compatible model with the same $100 discount when signing up for the Sony credit card plus the bonus controller and 5 free Blu-Ray's promotion. THAT was a heckuva deal.
Sony can take this pin and hang it in their ass...I have been burned by them too many times to consider anything from them, ever again.
And as an FYI to #7, XBL can be had for far less than 50/yr (I paid 30 last time around) if you watch for sales. PS3's "free" online gaming can be horribly laggy and bug-ridden because there is no standard way for games to implement online play. Developers are left twisting in the wind to find their own way (Sony? Leaving people in a lurch? Inconceivable!). Microsoft's SDK is far better in that regard, and it shows in the solidity of the online product.

Free online is relative. You mean your DSL line is free?

If the deal with one or two games combo, it will be batter.
