I have a 10+ year old STR-DA30ES receiver and it still sounds great. Sony ES stuff is good stuff.

The receiver is not bad, but at this price, I'd at least need HDMI 1.4/3D support for a little future proofing.

Don't know if there's much else noteworthy about it though.

Sony has always been very good about the quality products that work well. That has not changed in this case either. The Sony STR-DN1010 may not be the best AV receiver we've reviewed, but still a very good product. With its unique capabilities in 3D, may be the only option for some people. Since 3D is not the norm but visually, it could justify the opening of a weighting function that exists in the score. Maybe a couple of years from now it will not happen, but until then, Sony will release a newer model and still can not reach the top.
