#1 is on crack. He is looking at the wrong model. This is not the Sony STRDG720 1

You're right. Searched for the 820 model and the 720 was the 3rd listed. My mistake.

It's actually magical pixie dust, not crack.

I got the 820 shortly after it hit market for $300. It has a few upgrades such as more HDMI outputs and true HDMI switching (not pass-through) compared to the 720.

I got it from SonyStyle.com -- if you sign up for their credit card, you get $100 back..bacon least that was the deal they offered at the time.

I'd go for the 820 over the 720..bacon is worth the difference, in my opinion.

I have the Sony STR-DG910 and the Onkyo TX-SR606. The 606 blows the 910 out of the water with the power, it's not even funny.

I agree with mykiep. I have an Onkyo 905 and it rocks. I have seen a number of tests and Sony receivers have never put out rated power at spec across all channels simultaneously. The amps and toroidal transformers Sony users just aren't up to the task.

I despise Sorny just as much as the next guy. But #7 the Onkyo 905 costs much more than this Sorny pile. Just saying

It's only good if you want a cheap reciever with hdmi, but try yamaha or onkyo for some decent stuff, and plan to spend 700+ for decent stuff.

I used to own the Sony STR-DB930. I got it for $300 and it blows my $300 (on sale) Onkyo out of the water. The sound was cleaner, more powerful, and everything worked. Sadly a lightning strike wiped out all my electronics. I can't remember what model number the Onkyo is (I think it was the predecessor to the 606), but dollar for dollar Sony is capable of delivering more than Onkyo. I wouldn't count them out of any race.
