Don't buy this camera. It's pure trash.

I bought it for my baby's birth. I tried testing it first at an event, and realized halfway through, after it froze, that it could only record 15 minutes before crashing. I thought, ok, I can deal with that. Then I was at the hospital, holding the damn thing, when I got a format error with a card. Then I put in another card, and got another format error. I tried a third card, and it froze. I tried to format a card and it hung. We were in the middle of labor.

I was lucky enough to have my spare digital camera with video recording to capture the birth. i was stuck videotaping the birth IN STANDARD DEFINITION on my spare camera. Dammit Sony, if you sell a video camera as a video camera, make sure that it works.

This is the worst product I've ever bought. I'm extremely disappointed with Sony for this. If my spare hadn't been a Sony cybershot, I would say that I would never buy another Sony again. Needless to say, I won't buy a new Sony camera again.

#1, sorry to hear your bad experienced with that camera, myself, the only Sony product that I like is their TV, I can't stand Memory Stick, just because that' Sony trade mark for their cameras and camcorders (just like Olympus camera:XD Card)
At the end of the day, you have on one to blame is yourself(IMO).I bought a minDV camcorder (2, 3 yrs ago) for around $300, that was the low end one.Last Dec, I bought another one for my friend, $250, still a low end one, miniDV tape. Both gave great pictures with sufficient lights, otherwise, at night, good luck.
In your case, you shouldn't expect much out of a sub $200 (HD too!!!),the rule of thumb as always:You get what you paid for it. Thanks for the good lesson #1.

I would never buy a Sony video camera, let alone any other Sony product. They suck as a company and like to use proprietary stuff that you'll have to buy extra. I've had so many Sony products go bad on me....miniDVD video camera, 2 HDTV's, Boom box, in-dash CD deck, 3 different PS2's, home PC...the list goes on. NEVER....I repeat NEVER again will I buy a Sony product.

My Sony camcorder's LCD screen just went out after about 6 or 7 years.
