3 5/8" serrated blade? Will this do me a whole lot of good if I am lost in the wilderness? I guess that I need to watch more SurvivorMan.

Rescue knives w/serrated blades are handy for EMTs/others to cut seat belts, ropes, etc.

Or a pair of shears, #2. Easier to handle, and WAY safer. "Hi 'mam, I'm with the fire department, let me cut this seatbelt off - OH GOD I JUST STABBED YOU!" It's just a knife people. No reason to call it a rescue blade.

One tool does not replace the other.

It IS fair to say that a straight serrated blade isn't nearly as of much use to someone wanting a general cutting tool as it is to someone who may be in an emergency situation where they need to saw away a strap, harness, rope, etc.

A knife addict would want both blade types in some kind of Rambo situation.

    #1 You made me laugh!

I was thinking that for $48 I could do much better in way of "survival" equipment. I read a few of the "reviews" at that site and it sure seemed to be employee written.

I think it's called a rescue knife because the little nick on the blade allowing for one hand opening.
