I'll be darned... I never knew other keyboard weren't able to be washed. I guess I'm living in the danger zone because of all the non washable keyboards I've washed...
^ Some actually can't be washed easily. Back in the day, manufacturers used rosin core solder which fairly well repelled water and mild detergents but today they mostly use water soluble flux and don't rinse it off very well so the typical person is likely to leave pools of flux solution inside which as they dry, become more concentrated and corrosive.
I mean most people don't bother to fully dismantle a used keyboard that was worth less than $10 new. If you want to take it completely apart and make sure it's rinsed off good, yeah you can still wash anything except some of the scissor spring type keyboards similar to what you find on some laptops, which have the switch mechanism and circuit backplate all plastic welded together so any dirt that gets trapped inside isn't likely to ever come out.
1. Disconnect keyboard from the computer port. 2. Place/Hold the keyboard in the upside down position. 3. Shake the keyboard for about one minute to dislodge the food crumbs and boogers out of the case. 4. Apply cleaner by gently misting the keyboard while still in the upside down position. 5. wipe the keyboard face to remove filth. repeat if necessary. 6. Allow the keyboard to dry in the upside down position.
