Why not have both? Different bowls for different purposes.
Glass goes in microwave. And what do you put in a 4 inch bowl?
The stainless steel bowls are better for melting chocolate over a steam bath or creating a meringue. It is also good for cooking sauces if you don't want to burn the sauce, via water/steam.
It is not for microwaving, but then again, microwaved foods get denatured and loses a lot of its nutritional value.
