To hard core Trekies like myself this movie sucked and pitched 40+ years of trek out the window. Shame

While I don't attend any Star Trek conventions and I haven't yet named a child Tiberius, I consider myself to be, at the very least, a very loyal fan of Star Trek. That being said, I whole-heartedly embrace a changing of the timeline. It's a whole other level of "going where no man has gone before."

I dug the flick... and look forward to more.

This should come with a pair of "James T. Kirk Edition" giant Styrofoam hands.

They should have made a movie on the countdown (prequel to this movie).

As an older geek I am glad for the change. The original series cast was too old to continue and the movies were becoming pitiful. I would have like more Next Gen movies. I think JJ and crew have done an incredible job on rebooting the series. If you watch the extras about the making of the movie you will see how the cast and crew (a lot of whom were born AFTER the series) loved and respected the story and intent of Gene. I saw this movie with my son at an IMAX theater and we loved it!

#2, if you were such a bad ass star trek fan you'd call yourself a trekker, not trekie. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and I learned that from disc 2 of my 18 dollar Star Trek BR from Best Buy.

I should have known that a Star Trek deal would gather the most posts today.

Great movie, but Amazon has spoiled me with $10 Blu Ray deals on new hits lately so this seems weak. Ill wait and c if I get lucky

I agree with you #16. While $18 isn't all that bad, its really hard to pass on BR in the $10 to $12 range. I'd rather have the double sided BR+DVD and skip the digital copy (I can rip the DVD to my mobile device) and save a few bucks!
