Amazon with Electronica Direct has Star Trek: The Complete Original Series Seasons 1 to 3 Blu-ray Box Set for $108 with free shipping. Normally over $150. This 20-disc mega set released in 2009 features an improved digital audio remix with re-recorded theme music, in addition to the original 1960s mono track.

They did a "George Lucas" to them in that they re-shot scenes that have special effects and made them digital. They also scanned the original models and digitized them.
According to some accounts the original series only had two or three shots of the Enterprise orbiting a planet. They would just change the planet or reverse the shot each show.
The high res transfers from film are really nice, you'll really see it like you've never seen it before.
I personally mildly dislike the new models and new planets, as they make me think about what the old ones looked like. They make the series more accessible to a modern audience, as tested on my kids.
