Today only. Best Buy has Star Wars: The Old Republic (Windows PC) for $10 with free shipping. Warcraft-styled MMORPG allows you to take on the role of one of eight character types, but sadly not George Lucas himself.
Does anyone know when the 'free to play' model is getting implemented for this? As I understand it, you don't have to pay a subscription fee up to level 50 under the new model but I don't have a good frame of reference for that- is 50 a 'high' level that can be achieved quickly?
Goes Free-2-Play in November, 1-50 will be free for all - in order to PVP, run raids, or have access to a bunch of other stuff they will be requiring a subscription still.
Anyone that was, or is currently, a paying subscriber will be getting grants for the new "cartel" shop, which free players will need to buy with cash. Since this game comes with a free 30-days subscription, you'd be getting 15 bucks worth of tokens for 10 bucks. No idea if thats worthwhile, since the store might just sell hats.
