Shouldn't he be able to use his Jedi powers to summon it back? And seriously, what type of jedi stoes his light saber behind a bar. Everyone knows you need it with you in case the patrons get unruly. I've seen it happen before.

The Force is weak in the New York Jedi. If the thief stashed the light saber behind a mesh stainless steel RFID blocking wallet then NY Jedi is unable to summon it.
