Update: It is now $105 with free shipping.

Amazon has the Stargate SG-1 - The Complete Stargate SG-1 Series Collection for $120 with free shipping. All 214 episodes from all 10 seasons of the series are included here. What's amazing is that the majority of the planets they visit all speak English perfectly.

This is a great dvd collection for nerds, virgins, and trolls such as bacon (who already owns this).

Were this show's intended audience intelligent there could be linguistic challenges, even funny word choice opportunities. Barzon would roll over in his grave with the present standards (lack of) in broadcast and the Web.

Great series! Rarely a bad episode through the entire run!

I got this set for a little cheaper 15 months ago, but this is still a pretty decent deal. Awesome series, though I didn't like the last couple of seasons as much as the previous eight. Only problem, as mentioned by #2, is that the disc packaging is TERRIBLE.

The discs are packaged in poorly designed cardboard "notebooks" inside the big SG-1 box, and they slide out of their pockets during shipment. I bought this from Amazon.com, and the first set I received had over 10 DVDs severely scratched. I requested a replacement, and the second set had almost as many scratched discs. I was able to combine the two sets and make one good set, with two discs that had minor scratches but are readable. I've since replaced the cardboard notebooks with 8-disc DVD clamshells. You can fit seven of these in the big Stargate box and have enough space to hold all the discs.

Additionally, the first set that I received had the Stargate hologram glued on at about a 40 degree angle.

#5 - standards for what? Entertainment value? Compare Stargate with reality TV and tell me more about what standards should be applied.

Picking on the show for simplifying the presentation to avoid subtitles or convenient technology is kind of weak. Consider instead the story lines and acting. Or if you only want to pick on something, choose the technology and amazing leaps of logic made by some of the characters. Choosing the same language for everyone just makes it easier to present, though some shows do choose to include this detail, or at least address it in some way. But spending 1/2 the air time translating takes away from the actual story telling.

Gotta choose your battles when making products for the masses. While it would have been a nice touch, it also would have been a distraction for an on-going series. The writers did sprinkle in a few different languages now and then, but it was more decoration than anything.

You have posted about owning this box set in the past. I think you are really a dork with no life who is too ashamed to admit it.

It would have been hilarious if instead just having Richard Dean Anderson, they actually made him play MacGyver.
