Walmart has the Sun Joe Mow Joe 14" Electric Mower with Grass Box for $129 with free shipping. Features 12 amp motor, 14" cutting path, detachable hard top rear bag, and three position adjustable height handle. Finally you'll know what it's like to mow your law with a 1970's concept car.
these are rather anemic on all but the smallest or shortest lawns. remember you will have to replace the battery in the future($$). If you want to go electric, use corded. you will get used to the cord. they have more consistant power.
I agree with #1, you do get used to the cord. I have to admit, we've had our same electric (with cord) mower for about 15 years, its beat up but still works fine.
Agree with #4. You never get used to the cord. Yeah, spewing nastiness into the air from a lawnmower engine sucks but you're fooling yourself if you think switching to electric actually makes a difference. For every person in the US who switches to an electric mower, there are 30 dudes in China buying gasoline versions.
I have a battery powered black and decker. I love that thing. its not as powerful as my gas mower but its reliable. the only thing I will ever have to do to it is slap a few new batteries in it.
I dunno #6, do you mow with an electric mower? The cord really isn't bad, I just put two extension cords together and it works fine on my big/odd shaped lawn. Plus its nice not having to get or store gas and oil in the garage.
I tried my neighbor's corded electric a few times, hated it. The cord was ridiculous. If you have a nice open lawn with no obstacles I guess it would be ok, but who has one of those?
Wouldn't buy a corded mower. Have a corded trimmer, and the extention cords are a pain.
I really like my Black & Decker cordless mower, However, if it would have cost me the normal $450, I would have instead bought a cheap gas mower.
AQMD (air quality management district) out here in Southern California had a deal for $165 (including tax) for the top end Black & Decker cordless, with the trade-in of a working gas mower. My 20 year old mower still worked, was was falling apart, so it made for a good trade-in.
Catch with a corless mower, is that you need to take care of the battery for maximum life. The battery will last longer if you keep it fully charge. Since my yard is small enough to cut on a single charge, I simply charge it after each use (every 2 weeks).
Can't beat a corded mower in my opinion although this one is overpriced for its narrow width. I picked up 2 18" corded mowers for $50 each and they've been maintenance free for the 5 years I've used them. My yard is .75 acre...so it takes me a while but the cord is not an issue when you get used to it. It's nice too not having to stop and refuel a couple times - just plug it in and it'll mow until you're too exhausted to go anymore.

Slow mow
Newton is the best, but it costs $350 when it's on sale.
I used to have to mow the lawn with an electric mower when I was a kid. I never got used to the cord. What a pain. Get a cheap gas one already.

The hard box is a good idea - stops fine clippings from getting through the bags of the past.

This one is corded.
As for cordless, the replacement cost of batteries is greater than the cost of gasoline you "saved".

Forget all of this and save huge amounts of time and expense. Let it go wild or astro turf it.
Cheap gas mower FTW, get one lightly used at Home Depot/Sears/etc.
$10 a week takes care of my lawn. No I didn't ask for papers.
