Damn, that's cheap. I remember paying $90 for my 64MB jump drive back in the days.

I have found that using the "Micro SD" readers is cheaper, and more flexible, than these dedicated "keys." I have no idea about the speed though. For just making sure I have my stuff with me, the readers are a better choice, and the Kingston one has a metal case around the connectors for protection.

Using this or similar could I install an operating system like Windows 7, Linux or even Hackintosh Snow Leopard on one and then boot from it using the hard drive to store Mp3's, Movies etc? Thanks.

personally, i think carrying storage around is so 2005-ish. i do everything over ssh, scp, vnc. no need to carry around something that i know i'll lose.

Reminder; black Friday only a few weeks away. I'd expect to see this category at a buck a gig then, like my 16GB OCZ Diesel at sixteen bucks AR a couple months ago.

Very true! If you can hold out on your accessories, Black Friday is the way to go!

#5, not a good idea. These were never meant to have the constant R/W access that an operating system requires. Without an SSD's memory optimizer management, this will fail rather quickly as there is a limit to number of R/W cycles it can endure.
