Ben, you should make it clear that this isn't some ordinary laptop PATA connector. This actually has a ZIF interface, compatible with certain laptops such as macbook air.

Upon first look, I was actually quite excited thinking this was some 2.5" PATA SSD, which I've been looking forward to installing in my trusty T43.

Get a 1.8" ZIF to 2.5" PATA adapter for one if necessary, though the issue with some isn't the 40MB/80MBps write speed, it's whether they have a JMicron or equivalent controller that has very low concurrent I/O capability which introduces bad stuttering running an OS & apps from it.

If it weren't for that, 40MB/80MBps could be a significant upgrade still, from the typical old 2.5" PATA HDD especially if it were 5400 RPM or lower.

I benchmarked my 7200rpm 7K20 PATA drive the other day, and read/write speeds were around 30/30Megs per sec. I then benchmarked my Kingspec PATA SSD in my X41 Thinkpad, and results doubled that of my 7K20.

I looked into the adapters, but they're just a very slim piece, not a semi-enclosure for the zif drive, which means there may be mounting problems in your standard 2.5" bay.
